4 Ways To Keep Your Child Safe Around Devices

Although electronic devices serve endless purposes, they can harm children if care is not taken. Statistics indicate that 46.3% of children between the ages of 3 and 10 years have received cell phone-related injuries such as lacerations.

With children being more exposed to electronic devices from a very young age, there are growing risks of potential dangers. For this reason, parents and guardians need to prioritise their child’s safety around these devices.

If you’re unsure how to do this, here are some methods worth considering.

Handle your device carefully

Cell phone-related injuries are on the rise, especially among younger children, which is why it’s vital to take extra care when using your device at home.

For example, unplug your unused cell phone chargers, and don’t leave the cords around. Don’t let your infant see how you plug in and unplug your phones, as they’ll be tempted to try it themselves.

Additionally, many people have the habit of tossing their devices onto the sofa or bed when it’s not in use. This should be avoided particularly when there are young kids in the same space.

Finally, be very wary of your phone cover, especially if it contains any small detachable parts, in order to prevent choking.

Sanitise your gadgets as often as necessary

Here’s another stat you may find uncomfortable – a study revealed that 92% of handphones harbour harmful microorganisms. It’s common, for example, for some people to use the toilet while using their phones.

Such devices can easily gather bacteria and germs. And you may be exposing your child to them if you don’t sanitise your phone. Always remember to clean or disinfect the gadgets you touch often.

As a tip, slightly dampen a lint-free cloth with soap and water for the best results. While at it, avoid using aerosols or cleaning solutions that contain bleach and other abrasives to prevent damage.

Invest in EMF protection

Investing in electromagnetic field (EMF) protection can keep your entire family safe around electronics, so feel free to leverage it. EMF is an invisible radiation most electronic devices emit. And the longer your child is exposed to high levels of this radiation, the more concerns you may have about potential health risks, including brain-related issues.

Fortunately, EMF protection devices come in different types. For example, you can find Blushield EMF devices like shields or radiation-blocking cases, caps, hex cubes, plugins, and pendants, to name a few. These devices are designed to create a barrier between the emitting gadget and your child.

This way, you can minimise your little one’s exposure and potentially mitigate any associated health risks, so keep this in mind.

Never leave anything plugged in and charging while you sleep

From your phone to your laptop, never leave any device plugged in and charging, especially when you’re sleeping. Charging devices do not only generate heat but can cause an electric shock to a curious child who unplugs or touches the wall socket.

Also, leaving devices unattended while charging increases the risk of accidents, especially when you place them under pillows, blankets, or other combustible materials.
