Why New York State is the Perfect Family Holiday

If you are putting off visiting New York State, then perhaps you should reconsider. More than NYC, you can visit Niagara Falls and even make the most of the sub with its many beaches.

The National Parks

There are 22 national parks in New York State. And they are some of the most varied, stunning, and wonderful you can visit. If you are a skiing kind of family, there’s not much better than the Adirondacks in Winter. White Face Mountain has trails for all skiing levels. And for hiking and taking in nature, summer in the Catskills is an experience to rival anywhere else in the world. With thousands of miles worth of trails, creeks, and fishing spots, there are activities for all.

Niagara Falls and Other Wonders

You can’t visit New York and not take a trip to Niagara Falls. One of the modern wonders of the world, Niagara Falls, follows through into Canada. The falls themselves are nothing short of spectacular and something you should aim to see before you can no longer travel. Yet there are also attractions located near the falls. For example, you can see sea lions, penguins, and seals at the local aquarium. Or take a tour on the world-famous boat, the Maid of the Mist.

Christmas in New York State

Christmas in New York is an experience unlike any other. NYC is, of course, a major attraction with things like the Rockefeller Christmas Tree and The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. Yet it isn’t only cities like Chicago that can do cold and winter well at Christmas. You can visit the North Pole (not the real one) in Wilmington, which comes alive as a Santa’s workshop. Also, East Aurora has a department store, the 5 & 10, to rival anything in the city for your shopping.

Yes, There are Beaches

You may not think of beaches when you think of New York because of its reputation as a city. But New York is a huge state, and even the city has beaches that are easily accessible by public transport. For instance, you can visit the iconic Coney Island and Brighton Beach. But upstate New York also offers Southwick and Sylvan beaches. Depending on where you are and when you visit, these beaches are stunning and offer things to do, like Fort Tilden’s viewing decks.

The Many Theme Parks

Of course, what family vacation is complete without a theme park visit? Fortunately, New York is not short on these. For your nostalgia, you can visit the official LEGOLAND park in Goshen. Also, Long Island offers a more traditional coastline Playland Amusement Park which was built in 1928. Or you can visit Six Flags Darien Lake, which offers a more resort-like experience. And if you like adventure and getting wet, Zoom Flume in Durham has everything your family needs.

Summary

New York State offers amazing family experiences. There are 22 national parks to visit and stay at. Christmas comes alive in the city and outwards. And there are also numerous theme parks.
